Middle schoolers need morphology. Phonics and decoding are foundational but insufficient on their own. This series of articles is called Middle School Morphology. Over the next several weeks (or months), I will post 101-word slides that teachers and parents can use to help kids understand how to use word parts to become word-smart.
Students will learn to decode familiar words by using roots, prefixes, and suffixes. They will learn to use the words they know to learn the parts they need to know. Each word part is a key that will help them unlock thousands of words.
