Rhythm helps kids remember

Recalling how to spell the Long Vowel E

This student, diagnosed with ADHD, was having trouble recalling what he had learned about the various long vowel spellings, which are essential for mapping words with similar sounds but different spellings. So, his mother told him to sing the song we had taught him. Then, as he began chanting the song, I asked him to combine the spelling chant with the rhythmic boxing moves he had used to learn those sounds. Soon, he was able to recall each long vowel spelling without looking at any written prompts. This combination of rhythmic athletic movements and orthographic chanting had already embedded the sounds and spellings in his head. As soon as he began to sing and move, he accessed that memory groove. Rhythm helps kids remember.

Students forget when they become passive receptacles instead of active participants in the learning process.

T.A.G. helps students become eager, active participants in learning by using a full-body brain training method called VITAAL-K™.

VITAAL-K is an acronym for

Visual, Interactive, Tactile, Auditory, Adaptive, Linguistic, Kinesthetic learning strategies.
